This program provides upfront, non-repayable financial assistance to low- and middle-income students enrolled in part-time studies at B.C. public post-secondary institutions.

You must be enrolled as a part-time student in an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate program. If you are in a Master’s or PhD program, or enrolled in unclassified studies, you are not eligible.

What is available?

Based on your previous year’s annual income and family size, you could receive up to $1,000 a year if you are studying part-time.

Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students

This program gives extra help to students from low and middle-income families.

What is available?

Based on your previous year’s annual income and family size, you may be eligible to receive up to $525* $375 per month of study ($4,200* $3,000 for a standard 8-month academic year), with gradually lower amounts awarded based on higher incomes as indicated on the Government of Canada website.

*Note: the above Canada Student Grant amounts are temporarily increased by 40% from 2019/20 pre-pandemic levels until July 31, 2025.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • qualify for a federal student loan;
  • have total family income for the previous calendar year that is equal to or less than the income threshold established by the Government of Canada; and
  • are pursuing full-time post-secondary studies leading to an undergraduate degree, certificate, or diploma, in a program of at least two years (60 weeks) duration at a designated institution.
