Learning Disability Assessment Bursary

This bursary program helps part-time or full-time students with the up-front costs of the learning disabilities assessment.

What is available?

Up to $3,500 is available to eligible students. If you have a learning disability, you need a recent learning disability assessment to determine eligibility for services and/or equipment.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • qualify for student funding through StudentAid BC
  • are enrolled in full-time or part-time post-secondary level courses at a designated public post-secondary institution in B.C.
  • have been recommended to have a learning disability assessment by the accessibility services office at your school

How do I apply?

Please contact the accessibility services office at the post-secondary institution you are planning to attend.

Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities

This program helps full-time or part-time students with a permanent disability, or a persistent or prolonged disability with the cost of education.

What is available?

$2,800* $2,000 per program year (August 1 to July 31).

*Note: the above Canada Student Grant amount is temporarily increased by 40% from 2019/20 pre-pandemic levels until July 31, 2025.

Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment – Students with Disabilities

This program helps full-time or part-time students with a permanent disability, or a persistent or prolonged disability pay for exceptional education related costs for services and equipment.

What is available?

Up to $20,000 per loan year is available to eligible students for services and equipment like:

  • Notetakers
  • Tutors
  • Interpreters
  • Technical aids

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • qualify for a federal student loan
  • are enrolled in a full-time or part-time studies at a designated post-secondary institution
  • have a permanent disability, or a persistent or prolonged disability as defined by the Canada Student Financial Assistance Program
  • have exceptional education related costs for services or equipment due to your disability

  • Contact the accessibility services office at your school who will help determine which services and/or equipment will help you in your post-secondary studies.
