Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students

This program gives extra help to students from low and middle-income families.

For-profit schools

Pending regulatory approval, students at for-profit private schools in Canada are not eligible for the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students (CSG-FT). All other federal loan and grant eligibility requirements for students studying in Canada remain.

Note: Impacted students enrolled in programs with high labour market priority (Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Dental Hygienist, or Paramedic) may be eligible for CSG-FT funding in program year 2026/27 under an exemption provision. Contact your school directly for more information on eligibility.

What is available?

Based on your previous year’s annual income and family size, you may be eligible to receive up to $525* $375 per month of study ($4,200* $3,000 for a standard 8-month academic year), with gradually lower amounts awarded based on higher incomes as indicated on the Government of Canada website.

*Note: the above Canada Student Grant amounts are temporarily increased by 40% from 2019/20 pre-pandemic levels until July 31, 2027.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • qualify for a federal student loan;
  • have total family income for the previous calendar year that is equal to or less than the income threshold established by the Government of Canada; and
  • are pursuing full-time post-secondary studies leading to an undergraduate degree, certificate, or diploma, in a program of at least two years (60 weeks) duration at a designated post-secondary school.
  • Are studying at a public or not-for-profit post-secondary school (for-profit private schools outside Canada are not eligible).

Please see the Government of Canada site for more information.

How do I apply?
