After you submit your application, it will be assessed by StudentAid BC. You'll receive an email from StudentAid BC letting you know when your assessment is available. Log in to your Student Account to view your assessment, which shows how much funding you may be eligible to receive. You must review and accept your Notice of Assessment before you are eligible to receive funding.

The latest you can apply is 6 weeks before your study period ends.

The earliest you can apply is when applications open for the upcoming program year, usually in June.

You do not have to be accepted into your study program before applying for student aid, but you will not receive any funding until your school confirms you are enrolled in eligible studies.

Step-by-step application instructions

Follow these steps to apply for StudentAid BC funding:

1 Create your Student Account
To create your Student Account, you must first set up your BC Services Card account as your digital ID.
- Go to the Student Account page
- Click on Log in/Register and follow the steps
- During the setup, you’ll be asked to verify your identity
Once you’re set up, the BC Services Card account will automatically populate your StudentAid BC profile with your personal information.
To complete your profile, you will need to add your Social Insurance Number (SIN). Once StudentAid BC verifies your SIN, you’ll be ready to apply.
2 Start your application
- Choose whether you’re studying full-time or part-time
- Select the program year you’re applying for – this will open your application
- Complete all required sections. You can save your progress and come back if you need more time to complete your application
3 Read and accept the terms and conditions of the StudentAid BC Declaration and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Consent for income verification.
4 Submit your application. Once everything is complete, click on Submit.
