Independent students are regarded by StudentAid BC as being financially independent of their parent(s), step-parent(s), sponsor(s) or legal guardian(s). Independence is determined by such factors as length of time out of high school, marital status, and number of years in the full-time labour force.
Due to a labour dispute, the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills is currently experiencing a disruption in service delivery. Please note:
• Access to the StudentAid BC online application systems is not available at this time.
• StudentAid BC payments will be delayed until normal service resumes.
For general inquiries, please call the StudentAid BC call centre at 1-800-561-1818.
Thank you for your patience while we work to restore services.
