How to apply
- You can access these programs through the StudentAid BC Student Account and application for part-time students.
- To be eligible, you also need to complete the Appendix 8 for Part-Time Students – Disability Programs Application and provide medical documentation that verifies you have a permanent disability, or a persistent or prolonged disability.
- Students do not need to wait until they have completed their application to submit their Appendix 8 for Part-Time Students – Disability Programs Application for processing.
Note: To be eligible for reimbursement of medical assessment costs, the assessment must be completed and submitted to StudentAid BC between the beginning of the 4-month pre-study period and the end of studies date.

I need part-time student financial aid
Apply for part-time student aid
If you are studying part-time at a designated post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for part-time student loans and grants.
To receive part-time student aid, you must be a resident of B.C. You are a resident of B.C. if:
- B.C. is the province where you last lived for 12 continuous months, as of your study start date, not including months of full-time post-secondary study; or
- you are a permanent resident, or designated as a protected person, living in B.C at the time of application and will spend the study period in B.C but have not lived in any one province for at least 12 continuous months. For example, if a student arrived in Canada as a permanent resident less than 12 months before the start date of classes, and intends to study in B.C., the student would be considered a resident of B.C. for student aid purposes.
The assessment for part-time students is also different than for full-time students. The part-time student loan program does not cover living costs. It allows for:
- tuition,
- books,
- supplies,
- transportation, and
- child care up to the funding maximums.
